Verse-1 : Aam Aadmi

This can be considered my first real verse, discounting the few that I was forced to write back in high school. It was written in Jan, 2014 based on the current political situation then and will, therefore, not be relevant to the present scenario. This verse was a result of my new found interest in politics and this brazen new party .. AAP. It is one of the two verses I have written about them.

A disclaimer is in order here.. I was (and continue to be) an AAP sympathizer.

Well, here it goes ..

Aam Aadmi

(30-Jan-2014)

Free water and lower elec rates,
Policies that sparked quite a debate,
With the helpline they were trifle late,
Yet, low level bribes they tried to abate.

Request for audits, shelters for needy,
Safe haven for poor, discomfort for the greedy,
With lokpal bill now almost ready,
One hopes for a systemic remedy.

The party is young, a little unsure,
Their methods odd, intentions pure,
Mistakes, inexperience, we must endure,
A disease like corruption, to cure.

It has just been a month for AAP,
With much to debate, you see,
While they refused the lal-batti
Why did they defend Mr. Barati?

They make you angry and wonder,
Is it time to surrender?
They are guilty of some blunders,
A learning curve for the leaders.

Aam aadmi lacks finesse and class,
Their motives, clear as glass,
To clean the system, punish the wrong,
Among the corrupt, they don't belong.

A decade of widespread scams,
Promises aplenty, no concrete plans,
List of reforms hardly grew,
RTI, RTE and NREGA ,
Were among the very few.

People lost patience, the govt its sheen,
This lead to the results of dec 2013,
AAP’s spectacular rise and clean campaigning,
Congress, demolished,
Got reduced to a 'has been'.

Aam aadmi morphed anger into hope,
Determined to level the steep political slope,
They represent change, accountability,
Focussed on transforming our political sensibility
